I've got a Balsa Products 1/2A Texaco Scale kit.
Specs.
Span 36"
Area 340 sq. in.
With Cox .049 Texaco engine, flying weight given as 16 ounces.
I'm hoping to electrify it keeping it down to 20 ounces or better using a geared motor and Nimh or Lipoly cells.
I've never done an electric before. I want the best power to weight. Has anyone done this kit? Any recommendations or advise?
I fly 1/2A glow, have lots of experience building light, straight and don't crash too often.

http://brantuas.com/ezcalc/dma.asp is a link for a free motor calculator that may help you make some decisions. My wild guess would be a speed 400 geared 4:1 on 7-8 cells turning a9x6 or 10x6 prop. I'm sure one of the electric gurus will chime in here! How's the kit quality? I order a bunch of stuff from balsa products, have been very pleased so far.

Balsa products is based maybe 30 miles away from me and I never heard of them till the WRAM show this year. Now I have ordered a bunch of micro stuff from them. Super people to deal with. I just may have to buy that kit and convert it to a sorta scale stampe sv4. I figure different wingtips and tailfeathers oughtta do it if you just squint at it.
Hope to see pics of your moth when it's done!
