Default First Plane?

I'm shure that many people have done this but i havent seen much about this subject, are a lot of people turning toys into real planes ?..... This is mine, i will take more pictures and update this thread as the plane is built. I will be turning this 2 channel toy that i have learned to fly on into a three chanel plane, however i will fly it most as a 2 channel as the wings give this plane exelent lift alredy. This plane is very scared from a year of flying but i am hoping that with some servos a new radio and a brushless motor it should fly better than ever before....
The original wireing and solderings were rubish, they were all falling apart and breaking just by pulling them out of the plane.

These first pics just show the inside of the plane and the old electronics that will be replaced
P.S. I would like to know what everyone thinks of using the HPI SF-2 servo instead of a smaller one as i prefer to use fishing line connected from the servo horn on to the rudder for steering instead of a rod connected to one side of the rudder, i prefer the fishing line as it gives more amount of turning.

Default RE: First Plane?

Many people have taken low end planes and upgraded them with better equipment.

You don't say what plane you started with for this project.

(BTW, they are ALL toys.)

Default RE: First Plane?

The plane started as a golden bright mk2 spitfire... or something... its the same plane as a fast 3 mustang.

Since the first post i have finished the plane, i didnt go with my first idea of a big hpi servo instead i have 2 micro ones, + i also have a small brushless motor and a 30amp esc, and its powerd by a 11.1v 1000mAh lipo so it has quite some power, still havent tested it though due to breaking the first prop. here are some pics.
