You're spot on - my sim is the most basic/cheapest and yet it teaches me so many things. About the gummy thing, my TX has an elastic band(s) around the joystick - not the best method but it works for me! I'm lucky, only work 16 hours a week so the rest is hands on flying time.

Fear factor! You get on plane with laptop and set up flight sim - tell fellow passengers you're the pilot!!!

Hiya! Take a lok at the swift thread if you're interested - lots of tips and flying stuff - my fave plane at moment and starting to get tricky with it - newbies rule OK?

It’s an expensive hobby when you try to teach yourself :) I finally mastered it with a Sig Senriorita then moved to an Astro-hog. In retrospect I should have looked for help! But I did get good at rebuilding airplanes.

No its only an expensive hobby if you teach yourself with the wrong plane, I recently started on a Slo-v I crashed it a few times caused about £0 worth of damage but once I got the CG set where it shouldn't be (see the slo-v thread!) it flew great and after one battery I could land it and loop it! I already have a 40 size nitro trainer but its hard for me to get to the local club to learn to fly that so I may get the e starter for now, looks to be a much better plane then the swift, also check out the multiplex magistar its big but they do a mini mag as well.
