Default Great Planes Super Stearman EP ARF 36"

Here is the new firewall. I left the magnets clear to see if they will provide enough forced to keep the cowl on.

I'll put the fuel tank in here somewhere under the hatch.

What engine are you planning to go with?

I will try a Saito .40. Only because it is what I have. I'd prefer a Saito .30. This plane is almost weightless.

I looked at this plane again yesterday and its small. the OS 20,26 and 30 would be great for it. the saito 40 will make it go pretty darn well. you will have a thrust of 2-1..............

It IS small. Pretty strong we hope.
The thrust angle was in the motor box that I removed so I added some carpenter shimming at a 45º angle. It has about 2º of thrust angle in it so I am adding only about 1 degree of right and 1 degree of down. Probably not enough but I don't want to go any thicker to avoid pushing the prop too far forward and minimize the tail weight that I might need. Still undecided though. I could put a washer or 2 on the engine mount bolts to add more....

Engine sticks out more than I like. down thrust and right thrust are enough I think.

The 4 ounce fuel tank fits perfectly and is centered over the CoG. A first for any of my planes.

That engine will hover a 3.5lb plane at around 2/3 -3/4 power. this plane will be way over powered on 20% nitro. remember keep the pitch below 6 to keep the speed down. I would run a 11x6 on 20% or a 10x6 on 10% or less.

Plane weighs 2.8 lbs. Zinger 11x6w too much prop for 15%. Overheated and deadsticked. Tried MA nylon 10x7 scimitar and flew better but over revved. 10x8 MA nylon scimitar ran the best so far. Will try 11x6 TF powerpoint next time. Want a wood prop on this plane. Got 3 flights in. Photo is after a 9 minute flight. 4oz tank. Insane efficiency with the Saito .40.

Elevator cross wire got a bit loose after the day's fun. Will open the covering and throw some CA in there and see.

Looks pretty sharp with the Saito hanging out a smidge! I like the prop hub you added.

Look to get a ZOAR/Falcon prop maybe even a MA wood prop but the zinger wood props are about the worst out there.

Yes a 11x6wide is a very big load.

A Bolly 10.5x6 is also a great prop if you can find them.

I have an OS 30 that would be great on this one.

Not many planes for a Saito .30. I encourage you to get one of these pretty little planes, sir.
Cannot find any of the suggested props...only large ones in those brands.

I think the TF Powerpoint 11x6 will be OK. We'll see.

The magnetic cowling works great. Not an issue at all.
The hatch seems very tight as well. I was doing some aggressive spins and rolls and no issues there, either.

Even though it takes a bit of elevator for inverted level flight, I will add some nose weight and see if it tracks a little better. I will use a brass prop hub. Weather is terrible for next few days.

Thanks sir.
Maybe someone else will try this plane.

Horizon and Great Planes should release more small glow planes. But they do not. Probably will not.

I bought one of the Stearmans a little bit ago and decided to put an OS 25FX in it. I have done this to an e-flite Pitts 15e and a Pulse 25e. They really worked out great. Hope the Stearman goes as well as the others...........
