RE: E-Flite Taylorcraft conversion to GLOW!

scale dail, how was your flight like? mine is underpowered using a 7 X 5 propeller. The engine is 2 tanks old, I am hoping a 7 X 4 will be more favorable. It really needs headwind and a long runway for takeoff. I was flying at full throttle to keep it afloat  Hopefully it will improve on my next flight. Here is a video of my TCraft.

THAT IS GREAT!!! And great video! Mine does seem to have more power..... Maybe because my engine is an old OS .10FSR? I do not know how the two engines compare. I am running an old Top Flite 7x4 prop. I'll have to pull the plane out and fly it again.

Thanks guys! I will run the engine more before my next flight, it is still new and still needs more break-in :D

Very nice conversion! I've got several small engines laying around. The gears in my head are turning.:D

I had the rare privilege to fly Corey "Scale" Dail's E-Flite Taylorcraft with OS .10 FSR last weekend and my daughter filmed the flight. Sweet flying model....Thanks Corey!

thank you for the review !!!

so fun
After seeing your work, I chose Taylor from E-FLITE as well
I adapted the OS-15 LA with propeller 8 * 6
The construction was very fast, included a Birch wood firewall
It seems that the digital servo on the throttle is essential to this engine
A 1100mAh Life Battery and a 4OZ fuel tank of Dubro
After the maiden flight today I am considering increasing the size of the wheels
Thank you very much for the wonderful forum

The question is: why? first of all these planes are designed and built for electric power which mean very little vibration, which means the structure is not built for noisy, clunky, smelly glow engines.
You;ll be lucky to get one season of flying out of such a plane before it falls apart from the vibrations from a clunky glow engine.
Why not just buy a glow kit and build it as instructed?
Oh, I forgot, almost no one builds anymore.

Simple...because we can, and it's cool!!! :D

One season? Scale Dail has been flying his glow converted Taylorcraft for eights seasons and it's going strong. Convert and enjoy! :)

I'm in the middle of converting a Great Planes Electrostik to GLOW.....using an OS 35AX engine.
