Default I got bored and beat up on a blower

I picked up a 25cc featatherlite blower last fall. It was on clearnace and I got it for $20 beacause the gas cap was missing. Ther ports are larger than the weedwacker version I did a while back. The crank shaft is really long like the old Ryobies. I like that because it makes for better balance and easier machining. The muffler uses bolts! When I run it I will report back. 2 1/2-pounds as is.

You did a nice sanitary conversion. Looks like it was originally manufactured to be a model engine

What prop does it swing at what rpm?

16x6 8700, That sounds pretty good for this engine to me.

It has better compression than the last one, I can hand start it. It produces more power with the muffler, first time I've seen that.

Later, I messed with the timing to get the number above. Timed at 29* static produces much poorer numbers. Perhaps this unit is not advancing properly?

It is a 1500LE. The carb had two screws, the kind that need slots cut in them. I did not use that carb though. Hint, cut off the flat on the crankshaft extension before you run the die over it to thread, or it the threads will not be even. In other words do not chase the existing threads from the keyed part onto the round part. Start fresh. Try the muffler as designed. I drilled out the exhaust hole. I do not think that helps, it just makes it noisier.

I think this one is a keeper, it is worth while to grab these blowers when you see a good deal, IMHO.

I've always liked the 4 bolt backplate Poulan engines...

the 2400LE trimmers I've taken apart have had smaller ports, good to know the blowers are better engines

I did some checking. This one is producing G-20 power at the same weight as a G-20. I could trim a couple of ounces with a lighter muffler and possibly a little on the prop hub. The aluminum backplate is unneeded in an airplane. Possibly two pounds even?? The G-20 is 41 ounces. Anyone know if that includes the ignition?
