Default Homelite Rings

I ordered a set of new rings for the green 30cc Homelite I'm building and when they came they were the thin(.024) ones and not the .058 ones I wanted. The product number for the rings is 03179,but evidently these come in thin and thick ones with the same product number.Anyone have an extra set or know where I can get the right ones.A couple of places I contacted wouldn't take the time to measure the thickness, to make sure they have the right ones.

I did contact Homelite and they gave me Gardner's number 1-877-544-9250 to order them.I also checked on the Bowman rings at $10 each, plus you have to send in your piston to get a mod done to it to use his rings.

You can probably find Homelite rings, and for a few bucks less than from Frank Bowman. But Frank's rings are the best and will break in almost immediately and also give you noticeably more power, easier starting, etc. I don't use anything BUT Frank's rings in my engines any more.

If yours is a Homelite 25cc, the mod he does is to pin the ring which allows you to remove the exhaust port bridge which adds a lot of power to the 25cc Homelite.

My green Homelite is a 30cc and the piston has an offset pin with 1/2 of it is in the upper skirt above the ring groove and the other 1/2 is in the ring groove.I may yet try a set of his rings. He sent me a list of all the engines he makes rings for.

Reproduction Model Engine Rings

Quality at a fair honest price. Making a good ring is a Skill. Making a fine ring is an Art!

Last Revised 5 - 31 -11
I will reproduce nearly any model engine ring. If not available, I’ll need a good piston and cylinder to measure, or send motor. Send return postage, insurance is extra. For orders outside of USA, ask for shipping costs? Priority postage is extra. An order of 10 rings or more, discount of $1.00 off per ring, mixed orders are fine! Ring cost & shipping charges for USA listed below.
Please Note:
If you send me an engine for new rings that I don't currently make there will be No labor charge to do this.
If you send me the stripped down engine block ( Block, piston liner and rod assy.) for rings, that I Do currently make No extra charge.
If you send me a complete engine to disassemble, clean, and install the ring(s) and reassemble there will be a minimum charge of $25.00 per hour. My buisness is making Piston Rings and $25.00 is the minimum amount I would be losing by not making rings and working on your engine insted.
ATTENTION : NEW MEXICO CUSTOMERS WE HAVE TO CHARGE YOU 7.125% TAX, please add the extra tax to your orders.

Default RE: Homelite Rings

If the original second land ring is any good at all, I usually just put a Bowman ring on the top groove, and run the stocker in the second groove. It's really not necessary to run two Bowman rings.

You could even leave the second ring out. You get slightly more high rpm power with only one ring, but I like to use two for a little extra sealing security and to stabilize the piston for longer ring and possibly piston life.
