Craftsman/Snapper 25cc and MAC 2815

Hi all. I recently got two free items. A Craftsman 25cc leaf blower (same as similar Snapper model) and a MAC (McCulloch) 2815 weed eater of unknown age.
I've read some things here about the 25cc conversion and still debating but nothing about the MAC 2815.
I can't even find a manual for it.
I don't know what the displacement is - 28cc?
Anyone try converting the MAC?
I'm pretty adept at making stuff work and fabricating non-turned parts so I'm not afraid to cut, grind, port, etc.
Any tips/links would be most helpful!

I've got a 28cc Mac converted to 32 cc and to being a model airplane engine. I got the parts from TKG. I have another 28cc Mac whacker and several 32 cc whackers. I also have a second 32cc Mac model airplane engine. The two look as though they always were model airplane engines. 7500 rpm with a 18 -8

Tidnab, I found that website as well. I don't feel like paying for the membership. Clearfield, Pa? I'm originally from Sharon then lived in Erie for 18 yrs. Small world.

Hey Jazzy.
Got a few Mac28's here also. Converted to my CDI and they start easy and have plenty of power. One was on a 70" Ultimate 120 Bipe. Great power plant for a light weight airframe. Stock muffler needs some work but worked great so far.

This is my converted Mac 32, which is basically the same as the 28cc just bored larger:


good running engine, I believe I increased the exhaust duration on the one I fly but it's always been reliable until today when it needed a diaphragm (the day I forget my box of parts) for the carb...

But I have a converted Echo 50.

Thanks for the tips & pics guys!
When I finally get around to tearing the MAC apart I'll post some pics.
I think I'm going to keep the leaf blower as such. The displacement isn't enough to warrant not having a leaf blower - LOL!
I have many more engines than airframes but working on my first gasser.

Well, I got home from work and decided to throw some 40:1 mix in the tank and see what would happen. It would run at full choke and nothing more or less. I guess the carb needs rebuilt.
After taking the heat shield/cover off I realized I have a LOT of work to do! LOL
It has amazing compression for the shape it's in and it looks like the original plug is still in it. (I've still got the original plug in my Poulan 2400BC and its 11 or 12 years old!).
Looks like Scotch-Brite will be my friend again...

Do you think I should start a new thread for the conversion? I'll be making mods such as porting and probably going to CDI. I'll chronicle the progress step by step.
