Default Weedwacker identification and disassembly/conversion help.

I've acquired 2 weedies for free. I took them both apart, and they're almost identical. One is a "weedwacker" and the other is a "Craftsman". The carb was bolted to the plastic case, which was the back plate for the engine, single ringed, muffler held in place by springs, no sleeve, just a finned cylinder, plug is centered and perpendicular on the top, needle bearings on the con rod, 2 bolts holding the cylinder on.

2.) 1.) What do I do about the back plate for the case/carb? It's part of the plastic case that made up the weedie.

3.) Any idea what brand and size these engines are?

4.) What sort of performance could I expect out of these engines?

5.) They seem HEAVY, can they be lightened up a bit?

6.) Is there a site that goes over the conversion in detail?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm wondering if they're worth the effort. One is barely used at all.
Thanks,
--Rick
