Would the bushing be made from 6061, 2024,or 7075 alum or would it be a bonze bearing material. I can't think of anything else to ask you at this time. When the carbs arrive and some test runs are completed the piston will be redrilled and the results will be posted. Thanks again Capn, Jimer

Bronze. I think they used oilite. since it gets plenty of oil and has no real speed of rotation, just back and forth motion.

Hi
I read from a lawncare forum that the 4 cycle Honda GX31 31cc engine have vibration problem at top RPM. The vibration were so bad that it actually crack the crankcase!!! Anyone have experience of this problem on the unmodified engine only. I can understand if you modify the engine, you are pushing it to the limit. But for an unmodified engine, it is hard to believe it would do this. Any comments?

Is the GX31 design robust or the GX35 is better?
Thanks

Hi Captinjohn
I have to look for it, I read a lot of the posts, I read it day before and I was thinking where can I find this kind of info. Finally I think of this forum where people really push the engine to the limit. I'll try looking for it and I'll post it back if I find it.

THis is the forum I am looking at but I forgot where, it is around this page:
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...tlist&Board=14

Have you even have vibration problem on GX31? I ask because I just spent $400 buying a grass trimmer with the GX31, that not the kind of stuff you want to hear after fock out $400!!! Please tell me more what you think about this engine. Is it robust, does the connecting rod have needle bearing like all the other engines? I can't find a good parts diagram. The one in Honda site is not that goodl.
Is the crankcase material stronger than the cheaper Echo, Ryobi engines where they are so brittle it can break off easily?

Thanks

I never owned a Honda GX31 engine. If you can work the search feature on RCU better than myself...maybe you can find out more. Make sure your engine is not a clone. Unless the clone is better!! I have read some items where the clone product is better! Capt,n

Crankcase breaking from vibration sounds fishy to me.That forum has a strong brand loyalty bias, I'd say its BS coming from someone who doesn't like Honda.

I haven't converted mine yet, but I've started it up just held in my hand. I winged the hell out of it with no load, and there was no vibration at all.

Thanks, I agree. I am buying some lawn equipments and I went on different Lawn sites to ask questions. I found a lot of people in those sites are closed mined, rude and stubborn. As I said, I just bought a trimmer with GX31 engine and I read their comments. Judging from the response from before, I come to this site to ask this question. I believe people here are a lot more knowledgable and more open mind to try new things and push boundary. I don't buy their assertion that GX31 has vibration problem. No big commencial manufacturer particular Honda will put out something that is so off. The guy their claim that he test 3 and they all crack!!!!

I put a post asking "if I want to use 32:1 ratio, what is the best oil that produce minimal deposit". You think this will be a easy question. Instead I got critized, laugh at and not even bother to answer the question. All they can say were, use according to what manufacturer suggested!!!
Thanks

So you want to run a 32:1 mix in a 4 stroke that gets its oil from the crankcase? And to think, I have been just putting 10w30 in the crankcase and 87 octane in the gas tank of my trimmer. No wonder I have not fouled any plugs and it starts easily and runs with no smoke, I knew something had to be wrong.

No No No!!!! I skip a sentance!!! Sorry!!! I should have said, For my other 4 Stroke Shindaiwa C4 blower that use oil mix. They are like the Stihl 4MIx but I believe Shindaiwa is better. I'm not that old yet[sm=confused_smile.gif]

Don't quote me on this, there are some people that put about 200:1 in 4 stroke that have separate oil thinking that it will help!!

Guys do you find 32:1 protect better than 50:1 in 2 strokes? Tell me more

Thanks
