Default Honda GX25 - Self tapping screws?

Hi there,

I am converting a Honda GX 25 and have come across what appear to be a few semi-self tapping M5 bolts. The first few turns of the thread at the tip and seem to be serrated. I've not come across these before and I'm wondering if I should replace them with standard threaded bolts on re-assembly? Any advice would be appreciated! [8D]

Thanks and best wishes,

Luke

You could probably tap each of the holes with the appropriate (coarse or fine) M5 tap and use standard M5 bolts.

Thanks. It looks as though the threads are standard fine threads, just that the screws cut them as there is a lot of swarf in there.
