Try the gas engine forum. Dan.

Yeah, I'm bummed about Frank retiring too. I talked to him and he won't even do it on a limited basis anymore, but is casually looking for someone to take over.

Meanwhile, give Caber Engineering a look. I've tried one of their rings so far. Compression seemed a little soft at first, but came right up after only one run.

Do you have a website for Caber? Dan.

DLA Engine Parts carries a vast selection of Caber ring sizes/types. Sells on eBay and from his own site. Known as "the Greek" when discussed on online forums. I've bought from him when sourcing chainsaw parts, and many other guys have too. Never heard of a negative experience dealing with him. Takes some time to sift through his listings to find whatcha need. He lists them by specific applications, and by sizes.

Probably best to contact him...

I've used a lot of Caber rings and most of them came from DLA. Never any problems.

The ends of the ring in the image are plain finished. There is no provision for radial locating via a pinned piston. Are they all like that? Dan.

Try contacting "gaviscool" on eBay. He's a fellow in the UK that makes rings just as well as Frank. There's several guys on RCG that have used them and were quite happy. He makes them the same way Frank did except he does his final sizing after heat treating, so they are a different color than Frank's rings and he (Gavin aka gaviscool) tends to leave the rings a tiny bit long to account for a worn cylinder. I'm going to try one of his rings in an old ST X60 pattern glow engine when he gets some made up. It's worth looking into - his prices are close to what Frank's were.

Look closer on that link for Caber rings Dan. They have rings with both styles of ring notch for two stroke pinned rings.

How much does Gavin charge for his rings? How much is shipping and how long does it take to get a ring once ordered? The Caber rings are very reasonably priced and arrive quickly.

I think his prices range from $12-15USD and shipping is reasonable from the UK. I haven't ordered from him myself, but other guys on the other forum have. I'll see if I can find his price list and contact info and post it here.

Here's his eBay store:

His costs are indeed reasonable. Also, shipping is free on additional rings in the same package. I have a few engines to rering, and will likely order a batch from Gavin soon. Good to see someone's at least partially filling the void left when Frank B retired. Cabers are also a great option of course.

Av8tor, I'm using this Ebay address for the rings. I do not see any reference to the two or four cycle type of ring. Is it some place else? Dan.

http://www.dlastore.com/e_store/cyli...t-engines.html

Expand it on the left where it says "Piston ring sets (2T Engines)"

They are on there listed by engine and/or notch style and size.

EDIT: To view rings by size click on "Individual Rings", then click on "Compression".
