Has anyone ever taken apart one of the Red Max leaf blowers to get the Zenoah engine? I was just wandering once converted if it would be the same as buying the airplane version as far as weight and everything that goes along with it. If anyone has done this, I would like to hear about it.

The blower engines are different but make good airplane conversions...The 62cc has two bearings on the front and one on the rear, with a different cylinder..the case is flat on the back so it's easy to mount..The crank is the same size as the airplane version...

A quick search on"Redmax blower" would have scored you this recent thread:

Been there, done that. Given the chance to do another one, I wouldn't bother. Don't know about other sizes, but the 62cc blower engine have different carb and muffler mounting dimensions than the RC Zenoah G-62.

I am in the process of converting a RedMax Blower for airplane use. It contained a Zenoah 41.5cc engine with two bearing in front and one in the rear. The coil was hanging down below the engine in an less than desirable location with the coil mount a part of the front crankcase casting. I just got a new bracket made to hold the coil in a position right in front of the engine cylinder. Now I have to learn how to get the timimg right and it should run. If any more problems arise with this setup, I'm getting a ignition system from Ralph and ditching that big flywheel.
I am also converting a RedMax blower with a 25.4cc Zenoah engine ( doesn't have the coil location problem that the larger engine had) In both cases, the prop hub will be something to deal with as there is no thread or shaft sticking out beyond the nut holding the fly wheel. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHO SHOULD I GO TO FOR THE PROP HUBS?? The carburator on the 25.4cc engine has two ventures and no adjustments I can find. Also has two hoses going from the carb. into the engine - No doubt some of the new environmental control junk. Will need to dump the carb and get an adjustable one and seal off the hose ports into the engine. As you can see, these Zenoah engines don't just drop out ready to go into an airplane. I don't a lot of experience converting engines, so any comments about these conversions would be appriciated. Many thanks for the support already received from Cap'n John.

P.S. I have posted pictures of the Zenoah 45.1cc engine in a previous thread on this forum.
