I am converting a Ryobi 700r. I also have an old McCullogh with a flywheel about the same size as the Ryobi. It dosen't have fins and
has three magnets. A large magnet is in about the same position as the first magnet on the Ryobi in relation to the keyway with two smaller magnets on each side of it. Anyone know the effect/purpose of this setup?

you will find that there are no points also, that is because it has a c/d system or a variation of same and that third magnet is used to charge the c/d system and the regular magnets trip the Hall sensor.just a guess!
