Default 4-stroke glow to gas conversion?

Hi Everyone,

I'm interested in trying to convert a 1.20 glow engine into an ignition gas engine. I know there are issues with the carb and am curious if anyone has tried this. I'm considering adapting a Walbro carb to the engine but am curious if anyone has another method that might work.

Two other questions:

What ignition system would be best?

Would I see any increase in performance/duration if I used an ignition and glow fuel?

Thanks,

Jim

Ignition and glow fuel will give you the lowest and smoothest idle you ever saw a four stroke do.

The gas carburetion is a problem with the regular glow carb.

A very old man at my club has been converting the OS 70 and 120 for years, playing with the inner diameter of the carb tubes inltes, finally he used the Irvine .40 carbs and they are just perfect from stock, with no mods at all.

So if you want to try, I strictly recomend to use one of those carburetors.

Adapating a walbro could be a chance, but they need a lot of clearance with the firewall and an adaptor ...also crank pressure outlet to the carb...

Tell us later what you decide.

I've got an OS91, 4 stroke converted to gasoline and as they say once you get the carb adjusted it runs great. However with gas you lose at least 10% mabey 15% power. You've also got the extra weight of the ignition system and the ignition battery. Starts easy and idles really slow. I had RCIGN adapt his ignition system to the 91 and it performs flawlessly. It's fun to look at and talk about but just dosen't put out the power. it's not worth it.
