Poulan 3300 saw parts and info (54cc)
I just picked up the Poulan 3300 saw (3.3ci/54cc)at the local repair shop for $15. It was cheap because the bar oil tank had a hole busted in it and I let him keep the bar and chain. The engine was supposed to be perfect. I got it home and found the piston, rings and cylinder had some scoring. It is not too bad and the saw runs good, but I want to replace them since I do not have much invested and can spend some money on it.
Now for the questions...
Where can I pick up the piston, rings, cylinder for this saw? I thought someone posted it on here before, but I could not find it doing a search. What size prop are you guys using? Does this engine have the same power as the "name brand" 50cc engines like BME, DA, and Brison? I noticed that Ken has done the conversions on this engine, does anyone else make a conversion kit? What ignition do I need to get?
Ken, what do you charge for the conversion parts?

Thanks for that info. I am having a heck of a time finding someone who has the piston kit in stock. Poulan no longer makes them.

There was a guy on here a couple years ago that did a couple. He converted one to 60cc while he was at it. I have a 3500 but it is 60cc.
Unless it is real bad, a ring might just fix it up? He and the people that helped him are still around here. I have included a picture of a 60cc done by one of the regulars on here. They are of the same family except there are no fins across the top of the head on the 54.
Enjoy

you need to know which class cylinder you have the 54cc has 3 different cylinders it is actually called type the tag is the only place it will tell you .and they are different I have several new piston and cylinders ther is a place in marshall texas where I get mine just cant think of the name guess i will have to find an invoice to see,I have just finished the cad on a motor mount and machined the first one ,turned out good so I will have those now .they fit all the saws that have a case .as for the piston on the 54cc I think they are the same ring also.so a newer style piston and ring will work .
I had some older cylinders for the 3300 ( used ) out back some where if you can't find a new one

I finally got a replacement part number (530069546) and Sears carries it. If you need to get replacements Sears has been the best bet and cheapest for me. I also think you could use parts from the Poulan Pro 335 or 330, but the cylinder is a little different and the piston only has one ring. This difference is probably what Ken is referring to in type.

Like is said above by me and others. Thw 3,000 series engines seem to be of the same family, The one guy that converted his had to cut out the crankcase a little here and there for the ports were a little different. It would be a chancy thing for you to undertake on your own.
I was searching back and found two threads. One of them apeared near this one as I ws searching. The other was talking about engines that were 60cc from the beginning. I didn't find the one I was looking for.
The two most experienced guys with 54 and 60cc Poulans have already contributed to this thread some.
Enjoy,
Jim
