RE: Test stand
Here's my Frankenstein. Built it from sticks of 2x4s I scoured from job sites around my house. I test everything from glow engines with tuned pipes to big gasser twins on this thing. Not having to worry about making it pretty - strictly function only - means typical setup time for a new engine configuration is around 15-20mins.
Have more pictures of various engine setup on this same saw horse at home.

RE: Test stand
I have run as large as a Fuji 86cc twin full throttle on the sawhorse pictured above. The roughly 35-40lbs of thrust does "flex" the horse a bit, but it never threatened to take off. It stayed solidly planted, especially on grass. I made sure when I built the sawhouse that I gave it plenty of length to be stable. Now, if I eventually get into 40% aerobats and run 200cc twins on this thing, I might think about counterweight.
Now here is the sure way of making sure the sawhorse don't fly away - run an engine on either sides! Near end: Minarelli 70 with CH ignition. Far end: Ryobi 31 on glow.

I was uncomfortable running an ST 90 under similar circumstances. You might consider roping the sawhorse to a tree. It would be a disaster if it fell over.

Here is my test stand. It is portable, and I use 2.. 3/8 dia.. bolts to secure it to a 8 foot 2x10 I lay in the bed of my pickup truck with the engine just over the tailgate. Works nice. I can also bring it in where its nice and dry. Capt,n

Yes I would agree...there is a lot of truth in you reply. I had a photo of one in my toolbox lid at work for years. Then with the help of the computer and a tip from a nice man in B.C. Canada my dreams came true, and found this one. It sure runs nice TOO!! Capt,n

The Photo I want to do for my Avistar is a Photo of beautifull Stearman Biplane. The Pilot is rear seat and I am in front seat. I was really lucky to get to ride that day. They flew in pairs and you could look right over and see the passenger in the other plane so close you could see the expressions on there face. We did about 5-6 manuvers like that...side by side. Best day I had in my life. Red Barron Pizza Squadron. God Bless Capt,n P.S. I like the stand in post #8 the Best...gottta make one!
