Default Ryobi Guru's ! Help!!!

What equipment do I need and what's the procedure for breaking the centrifugal clutch free from the crankshaft so I can get the plastic shroud off the flywheel and recoil starter mechanism? Ryobi 31cc from a 720r weedwhacker. Any and all comments will be appreciated.........RJ

Hi,
The clutch drum has a square end for the drive shaft. Inside the hole in the end is a screw that attaches it to the end of the crank shaft stud. It is one of those star type sockets, so you will need a long thin screw driver of correct type to remove it. After removing the drum, you will remove the clutch which is lefthand thread (turn clockwise). Lock the end of the shaft in a vise, break the clutch loose and spin it off. Remove the sleeve from the shaft and the flywheel should slide off the shaft. I hope that this helps.

Regards,Dave

Hello,
I need tyo make a correction to the above procedure. The clutch on a long shaft Ryobi is right hand thread. I was confused, because I put the clutch in the vise facing down. I then I rotated the engine counter clockwise to remove the clutch. The clutch was effectively turning counter clockwise. Sorry for the error.

Regards, Dave
