Husky Cases

My Feedback: (5)
Good afternoon all. While poking around "That auction site", I saw several Husky saws for sale. Looked like most of them had the saw case as the crankcase for the engine. [:'(] I'm looking to do a 50cc or so motor for a Midwest Extra and thought these might be a possability. The model numbers I looked at are 2051, 266, 55, and a Jonsered 670. Anyone have any info on these? Are there better Husky engines to use? I have a Poulan 46 (still a saw) but was looking for some more grunt.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Husky and Jonsered have models that use plastic lower cases.
The pro series saws are not built this way.
The bearings are held by the cylinder, which has bearing races built in and the lower case which is plastic,
Holds the bottom side of the bearing.
I discovered this working on my Jonsered 3250.
I don't belive this will make a good RC engine.
But I have been wrong before.

husky models 272, 288,2100 and 394 (72,88,100 and 92cc's) all have the same shaft taper as the g62 zenoah which makes conversions a snap... we would also use sealed beraings to close up the crankcase after hacking the engine from the rest of the case. the 272 ( 72cc) is a very light weight power house. we would get longer case screws and make short standoffs then use a aluminum back plate for the mount

My echo saw that I converted, the bar mount, oil resesoir, etc was all part of the engine, I cut off all of the oil tank, and pieces that was unessesary, used the rear of the engine, were the saw bar mounted to put the engine mounts. I made delrin standoffs in various thicknesses to mount it to the firewall. Its not pretty on the back side, nor the front were the mag was mounted, big honker coil mounted off to the side, and it will weigh a little more than one that doesn't have all that extra stuff on it, but if it has 4 places where you can drill holes and pass bolts through it for mounts, it may be worth your while to do it.
