Default Bent Crank

Need some help with my 45cc Homelite Conversion. I have it in my Ziroli p47 Thunder bolt, and it flies great but I have a problem. I cannot get the muffler to stay on it shakes it off and the pipes are shaking out. Looking for the cause it appears that my crank may be bent. If this is the case how can I fix it. Has anybody done this before?

Hi Don,
The crank stud doesn't have to be bent to have excessive run-out at the prop. The prop adapter could be the problem. They require great care during manufacture. I heard of brand new Quadra's having bad adapters. You need to check the shaft and, or adapter for run-out. Did you make the adapter yourself? It would be a lot cheaper to replace the adapter then the crank.

The crank is actually three pieces pressed togather. It's possible for the crank to become twisted, particularlly from a prop strike.

A prudent lathe operator can straighten one.

Enjoy,

Jim
