You might be surprised to know that the Tecumseh 49cc is only rated at @ 2HP while the Homey and the Poulan are rated at @ 3HP each.... I was surprised to find this out myself... not sure why there is such a difference...

Well, the Tecumseh I have came off a roto tiller. I'm sure it's ported light for low end torque, and probably has a smaller carb. If that's all it is, then I could do some porting and install a larger carb to get the power up. However, if it inherently has quite small transfer ports or something like that, it could be a lot more difficult...
Guess I won't know until I tear it down and check it out real well. I was just hoping someone here had some experience with this engine. Looks like a nice easy conversion, but I'll have to investigate further to see if it's worth doing.
I ordered a new Wild Hare R/C 28% Extra, and I'm trying to decide between the three larger engines I have; a Homey 45, a Poulan 42, and this Tecumseh 49cc.

Hi AV8TOR,
The Homey and the Poulan have large ports, high compression and advanced port timing. Here is a picture of my Homey cylinder as an example. Next time I will reduce the resolution.

It was a LONG time ago...I was looking for an American made engine to sell as a converted airplane engine...Tecuhseh was the only American company that didn't care if their engines were made into RC powerplants...It was only a little stronger than a G38, but maybe by now they increased it a little...
