Default MTD 31cc with Electronic solid-state ignition

HarborFreight has a string trimmer 31cc by MTD with
Electronic solid-state ignition .
Has anyone used this engine?
I guess there is no mag on it???

hi John
if im not mistaken its a magneto ignition it just doesnt have points ,the number 55008comes to mind. just bought two for converting the other week
one is done thewother is back burner for now . its a ryobi engine mtd is the parent company harbor freight sells remanufactured
weedys ( mostly
readgusted needle valves) almost like new .good prices good for converting .for 50.00 I might buy another one (dont tell my wife )

and yes search ryobi lots of guys convert ryobi's and take a look at wacker engines .com. Pete makes some very affordable and nice parts ,check it out !
