Looking for some expert opinions...

Do you think a Homelite 30cc w/ magneto, 11mm carb, turning a Zinger 18-8 prop @ 6900 rpm will fly a 17# high wing (1460 sq in) aircraft?

Thanks for opinions expressed.

Yes it would fly it but you may want to try a 12.5mm carb too. RPM will be higher in my experience. Just finished a 21cc Echo and it turns a 15/6 APC at 8100 with an 11.5mm carb. 9.5mm carb turned at 7500.

MY sons balsa usa DVIII weighs 14.5 lbs.wing area is about 1000 square inches if i remeber right.he has a homlite 30cc . dont remember if its 1 or 2 rings.stock carb and ignition with a pitts style muffler.flys it perfect.after takeoff it will fly at half throttle no problem.that weight is dry weight ready to fly,no fuel in it.forgot to mention he has a black plastic 18x6 or 18x8 dynathrust prop and i think rpms where about 6800 but im not sure.

It will be fine, not a power house but plenty to fly scale.

Thanks Guys.

I feel better about it now. I'm not looking for aerobatics, just want to take off, fly around in circles and land with this plane.
