Default prop position in relation to flywheel..

Is there a tried and true rule as to where the prop should be as the magnets align with the coil? trying to smooth things out on my toro 25cc ... my motor is shaking at some troubling harmonics.....it is currently mounted directly to the firewall..

I might have to try a soft type mount..

the prop is well balanced but I wondered if I could locate it at a better angle. I only start with electric starter so hand flipping is not an issue for me.

thanks for any help!

Default RE: prop position in relation to flywheel..

There was a guy that "over balanced" quadra engines some years back. His name was Dario B????? My cousin sent his quadra to this guy and it came back super smooth. I am not sure how he did this. I am guessing he had a theory to have the flywheel out of balance in a cetain posistion relitive to the rod/piston posistion. Just a guess. I wish someone who knows how Dario did his magic, would shed some imfo on the subject of balancing. Thanks Capt,n

I read somewhere that the piston should be at TDC and the prop should be 90 degrees or horizontal, facing the 3 and 9 oclock positions. But since i hand start my conversion engines i do the magnets are at about 1:30 to 2 oclock position and the prop is at 2-8 position.I would take the hub off.Thread in a stud that matches the threads until it bottoms out. Then take it to somone with a lathe if possible and check the runout. If you dont have access to a lathe chuck it in a drill press and see if the hub is basiclly running true,no out of round effect.
