Default cut too much!!

Doing my first conversion, Homey 25 from a weed wacker, and in my enthusiasm to shed excess weight, I cut off half the bracket that holds the magneto in place. I was (subsequently) informed that this would seriously compromise the strength of the bracket, cracking etc, etc, and the mag would soon contact the magnets leading to engine failure. !!!! Is there a way to fix this ? I have since cut a piece of I guess .040 or so aluminum sheet to match the remaining portion of the bracket. Would it be possible to weld this sheet to the backside of the remaining bracket to restore some of the stength nedd in that area, or should I just scrap it, and look for another donor? Thanks.

Get a spark plug adapter for a flow plug. Then you can get rid of all that heavy spark ignition. Good luck, capt,n

Buy just a Glow Plug Adaptor & convert to GGL (2:1 Gas Glow)
then get back to cutting the rest of the ignition mounts off the engine.

Or... Convert the engine to electronic ignition and shed some real weight. Maybe $100 for a CH module.

Or if you have enough fin material left on the top of the jug, you could strap it from the top of the bracket to the fin. I have seen it done in a similar case and the engine is still running today. Be sure to use two bolts on the fin side to keep the bracket from flexing/cracking.

Thanks for the input, folks. Appreciate the ideas, but where can i get a glowplug adapter, how much does it cost? I'm sure a lot less than an electronic ignition. Very nice to have, just a bit beyond what I'm ready to pay for a conversion right now. How does the gas/glow compare to either of the two separately ?
KidEpoxy...shoot me an email. Appears we're in the same town.

In the past I have made reinforcing brackets and bolted them on. Welding would be problematic and likely expensive.

If the coil vibrates it may short the windings. The internal windings are small.

A picture of what you are up against would be helpful.
