When wiring up our model airplanes, it is often necessary to solder connections for servo leads, switch assemblies, ignition systems, etc. With these small gauge wires, it is difficult to tape them neatly. Further, any exposure to glow fuel, or especially a little gasoline residue, and the tape joint becomes a gooey mess. I always use shrink wrap tubing for my connections. It always irritated me that the hobby shops and Radio Shack charge so much for a little shrink tubing.

I bought the twenty dollar box, and it's enough shrink tubing to last for a very long time!

Yep, the hobby shops are crazy. I get mine at Home Depot.

And since we're talking about cheap... I needed a small, weird shaped fuel tank for a scratch built spad profile I'm working on (home for the Mac 25). So... Sunny Delight to the rescue!

Yep, nice job and no rubber stopper to leak. Where did you get the little filter clunk? Is it for gas engines?

looks similar to one I pulled from a mac tank... I'd assume it's from the mac 25...

Yeah, one of the many weedeaters, blowers, and chain saws I ripped apart for the engine had a nice slim one something like that, and I told myself, "I need to remember which brand and model this machine is, so I can get some of those cool filter clunks!!" Did I? NOTT!!

Also, where did you get that neoprene fuel tubing? I've looked all over for that stuff with no luck....

That's just a weedeater clunk, don't remember which one, but I always save them when liberating a motor. The tubing is windshield washer tubing, about $1.47 for five feet at the local auto parts store.

I'm not a big fan of the Filter Clunk.
I fill the tank from the fuel draw line, not a 3rd fill line, so any garbage that I may put into the tank will sit on the 'out' side of the filter clunk. That leaves it ready to go back out the fuel line and toward the carb.

If you use a filter clunk, be sure to use a seperate fuel fill line.
