Default run time for a ryobi 31cc on GGL?

Hey, i was wondering what kind of run times you guys are getting with ur ryobis on ggl? i will be running a 16oz tank and spinning a JXF 16-8 prop. i was kinda thinking of sticking this engine in a big 'ol tiger moth or something like that. the reason im wondering about run times is our club has a cross country rally once a year and it takes about an hour to complete it. i think that with a nice slow flying plane, i could do the flight without stopping for fuel

It will depend on how hard you run it of course, but I am going to guess at a little under an ounce a minute. (Never really timed any of mine....)

I guestimated about 30 minutes run time on mine with a 16oz tank. I set my timer for 10 minutes and always had more than half a tank left. I later changed to a 10oz tank. Nothing worse than a big tank on a fly away. <g>

Is that on straight gas, or Gas/Glow however? They use a little more fuel on the Gas/Glow system.

that would be on GasGlow. as far as running hard, i like doing mild aerobatics and putting around in a scale manner.

I've had my ryobi run 38 min on 16 OZ and it was at full throttle most of the times doeing aerobatics most of the times, I allso think that plane weight has a lot to do with fuel economy.

If you are building something for the cross country gig, I would build something sleeker than a bipe. Then use a high pitch prop and between that and the aerodynamics, you would be able to throttle way back and save fuel. I would think an hour would be feasible in such a case without a very heavy load of fuel. Probably doable on 16 oz.

I'm thinking about doing a 60 mile cross country, but I was just going to hang a 32 oz. tank on my Giant Stik with a Poulan 42cc on Gas/Glow, (in addition to it's normal on board tank of about 12 oz.), and go for it...

sounds interesting. another plane i was kinda sorta thinking would be cool is a double sized slowpoke 40. it has a fairly basic construction, light wingloading, is kinda sorta aerobatic and would be a good towplane/payloader. if i can find a decent place to work by christmas, i might go for it. unless i come across something else i want to build more.
