I was recently giving a Poulan 2300 chainsaw. I just would like to know what cc's it is. Has anyone converted one? How good of a engine this make? What type of airplanes are you putting it on?

Note that it has "caged needle roller bearings" on the crank.

Is the cage needle bad or good?

Good for a saw... but not so good for a conversion. Since we want thrust... we need bearings that can hold a thrust load. Ball bearings would be better.

Ball bearings are better, but their have been some very sucessful needle bearings R/C engines, such as the Quadra's.

I would guess ball, since I havn't seen needle bearings on any trimmers.
