Default Shindawa 24 cc conversion yes, no?

Just came across a used gas blower that has a 24 cc Shindawa engine for power, haven't got time to disassemble it yet, I am curious if anyone has converted this size engine and what about its quality and power, any input is welcome, thanks.

I would say they (Shindawa) are a well made engine. Try typing that name into the search feature on top of page. I bet you will find something! Capt,n

Shindaiwa makes good motors.
A little porting and it should be a winner.

Shindawa EB240 is the one I have, looks promising, can't wait to get it stripped and ready, thanks for the input.

Had one once.sold it to a guy in California.it had 2 rings like an echo, bolt on muffler, and when most of the metal was cut off it was light.very good runner. The only issue i had with it was the nut that held flywheel on was recessed in the flywheel so the hub in order to seat was only about 3/8 to 1/2 inch in diameter.but on a small engine this shouldnt be an issue.any of the guys on here with a lathe could cut one for you.

I have converted a 32cc Shindawa for my BUSA Fokker Triplane. It runs great on the stand; I am now in the process of building a large high lift slow flyer to test engines. I haven't got the nerve to use my triplane as a test bed. The Shindawa does seem to be a very well manufactured engine.

I have a Shindawa 23cc from a string trimmer. The engine is well made, has generous transfer port area and runs good. On Electronic ignition turns a Bambula 16 X 8 at 8200 rpm. It turns about the same on Glow/gas with glow plug, but the vibration is more than with EI. This is apparently due to a fairly high compression (effective) ratio and needs a higher octane rating fuel.

IF YOU CAN FIND ANY SHINDAIWA ENGINE EXCEPT THE 18CC , BUY IT IF ITS REASONABLE...THEY ARE THE CADILLACS FOR SURE ... HERE IS THE TEST ..........GO TO EBAY AND PUNCH IN SHINDAIWA... THEN PUNCH IN ANY OTHER BRAND AND THE SHINDAIWAS ARE TWICE TO 3 TIMES THE MONEY... I GO INTO THE MOWER SHOPS ALL THE TIME BEGGING FOR SHINDAIWA ENGINES... I GOT A 25CC C-4 4 STROKE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND TRIMMED DOWN WITH A CARB AND MUFFLER ITS 4 POUNDS.ITS ALSO SUPERCHARGED.. IT TURNS AN 18-8 WITH EASE. TO ABOUT 8K ITS STILL ON MY TEST STAND.. BECAUSE IM TRING OUT SOME DIFFERENT WALBRO CARBS..4 STROKES LIKE SMALLER CARBS THAN A 2 STROKE OF THE SAME SIZE. SHINDAIWA C-4'S HAVE NO DIPSTICK.. AND NO MOUNTING ISSUES... BY 2007 ALL SMALL ENGINES WILL BE 4 STROKE..BY LAW. I HAVE AN 8510 BACK PACK BLOWER AND IT WILL PUSH A BATTERY DOWN THE SIDEWALK... REALLY DOES. HONEST IT CRANKS 225 MPH AT THE NOZZLE END.80CC 4 STROKE .. MMMMMMMMMMMM 1/3 SCALE CUB MAYBE LATER..LEO

Hey Leo, Was looking on e-bay yesterday; not one Shindaiwa engine. There must be a reason . Anyone who has one keeps it. I really like mine, havn't finished it yet but will soon. Chet
I didn't mention that the reason that I first decided to convert the Shindaiwa to model airplane use is that the stock mag will generate enough spark when hand propping to start. Most of the other brands won't unless they are old enough to have breaker points .
It's a real sweet engine.
