40cc~50cc 4 stroke out?

My Feedback: (1)
I am going to be building a top flight stinson reliant soon and while a GX35 would fly it I want more power than it would provide that plane. I want to use an electric start so it will be closer to the 22Lb range than the 18Lb range. Has anyone seen a new 40+cc 4 stroke that can be mounted inverted on the market yet, or coming up soon?

I seen a small 4 cycle engine on a water pump at Harbor Freight today. Nice looking engine, but I do not know what cc displacement it was. capt,n

Remember the Stihl BR550 65cc four stroke that uses oil mixed in the fuel. It is big and can be inverted, because it doesn't have a sump. Here is a link.

Very familiar with it, it is a bit large though and I was hoping for a sump type like the GX series to burn stright gas. Given the relatively large size of the 35 and 31 compared to their displacement it wouldn't be unreasonable to see a 45cc in the same rough size and weight. I have checked every manufacturer I can think of and came up empty. I might just use the 50cc RCS 4 stroke, it is basicly a single cyl off the 215cc radial which I have and love, but I hate to spend $1,000 for a $200 solution.... The GX35 would fly it, it handles the rascal and some Balsa USA WWI planes just fine, but I desire more than just scale power for this one.

I thought I saw Honda was to come out with a 50cc 4-stroke...after their 25, 31 and 35? Maybe I am wrong, or maybe it's not a 4-stroke. I thought Carrprecision was testing them.

Unfortunately the Honda 50cc 4 stroke doesn't appear to have an all-orientation lubrication system like the GX25 and GX35. It's just a straight sump arrangement. Apart from the Stihl 64cc, Shindaiwa make an 80cc four-stroke using their C4 technology that works similar to the Stihl 4-mix. It's used in their high-end backpack blower that costs around $450 to $500 in the US and £450 in the UK. There is an animation of C4 engines at the following site:

I've been toying with the idea of getting a Shindaiwa blower for use as a blower - at least for a couple of years - who knows what might happen during that period that makes me take it apart and do something else with the engine!

It looks more and more like this: http://www.rcshowcase.com/html/RCS/rcs50vt.html is the solution. It irks me I couldn't turn up a nice oil sump 45cc 4 stroke to convert. I just have to make up some brackets for an onboard starter.

Shindaiwa seems to be offering the 80cc in parts? Still can't find the power head for sale alone. I was quoted a price of $579 for the whole back pack blower locally.
