machined flywheel
When converting a blower/trimmer or any other gas engine for R.C. use and the flywheel needs to be machined or trimmed. does this mean thickness, diameter or what?

RE: machined flywheel
There are so many types of flywheels used, you should read all you can about the exact one you are using and what seems to be working for others. To tell you how much to machine a flywheel might be a dangerous thing. Some are balanced to help keep viabrations down. You may consider checking balance before and after you machine it. It is common just to cut the vanes off, taking the same amout of each one to keep balance. When running any engine stay out of the arc where a broken prop or flywheel can rocket outwards and hit you... ALWAYS ... Also a backfire can throw a prop forward...do not get in front of a high reving engine. Do a search at top of page. Just type in the word flywheel. Regards Capt,n

They are usually talking about the thickness of the flywheel.
Mostly just machining off the fins to save some weight.
It is not required in most cases.
