I did some google searches..

From the pics I found and your discription it sounds like a Ryobi 31cc motor to me..

I am familiar with this engine. It was also branded Craftsman. The older ones had spring mounted mufflers, but the newer ones have bolt mounted mufflers. It has a reed valve and plastic rear cover. It also has dual rings. Should be a geat fit for a plane with a narrow cowl. The crankshaft extends quite a bit past the front of the engine. There is quite a bit of cutting to do also. I never fully converted mine and/or ran it because I didn't like the spring muffler.

If this is the Ryobi engine is it a good engine and can it be found anywhere for less?

Do you think it could spin a 18X8 at over 7500 rpm?

Look for a older model Ryobi.....a lot less cutting. The front part unbolts. Free at some repair shops. Capt,n
