Stihl Blower coil
Stihl Blower coil
A recent crash damaged the coil.
I would like to purchase a coil if someone has converted to electric ignition. The Stihl Blower is a BR 400 and the number marked on the coil is 1 249.
Thanks.
Bill

RE: Stihl Blower coil
Bills: Is that a coil with curved metal plates or a seperate coil. Seems like any coil that will bolt on and have about the right clearence to flywheel should work. Not sure though! Capt,n

RE: Stihl Blower coil
The high-tension coil is built into the trigger coil similar to the McCullough blower and space is limited. I believe an original coil will be necessary.

RE: Stihl Blower coil
Bills: I called the Local dealer and he would need to order one. He kinda hinted the exact one was needed. I am not so sure on that. New is $35....not good...right? Maybe you can make a glow or gas/glow out of that engine. I will keep my eyes open for a good used one. Capt,n

RE: Stihl Blower coil
John: The original blower magneto ignition/coil set up has been so reliable over the last 16 years that I am reluctant to change. Wouldn’t mind having another half dozen BR 400 Stihl blower engines. I like the engine because it turns the correct direction to leave the pull starter in place and turns G 62 size props at same speed.

RE: Stihl Blower coil
Bills: You may want to consider the ignition sold by RCIGN1. Set-up right it would be far lighter and should start super easy by hand. Call or e-mail him for more details. You may be glad you did. Best Regards Capt,n
