I would like to freshen my 31cc Ryobi with a new ring. My question is should I attempt to deglaze the cylinder wall or just install the new ring on the present cylinder. If cylinder prep is advocated please advise as to the preferred method of accomplishing this procedure. Thanks for your interest and help.

I use Frank Bowman rings exclusively, and he recommends a mild glaze removal with 400 to 600 sandpaper. It works....
