Any one knows how to get CAD (Computer Aided Design) model for rc toys & rc engines?.
It is much easy to test changes on a computer model . one can make custom changes in it & approve its reliability without harming the real toy. It also serves as a learning source.
any links related to downloading CAD models from RC world r welcome.
thnx

I doubt that fully dimensioned CAD drawings are available for many of our engines or accessories, as it would make duplication too easy. What I have done for drawing plans and determining fit is to capture a bitmap image, then convert to vector using Adobe Illustrator (trace). Many of the engine manufacturers offer three-view or at least front and side view images. Of course, getting the proper scale can be an issue, but all you need is one dimension, and everything else should be proportional. Since the mounting dimensions are most important, I usually use them. Beware, you will find distortions even in the manufacturers' images. John

On my cad pages, http://home.wanadoo.nl/pereivers/cad..._drawings.html
open the spitfire zip file. In the .dwg, there are the ST2300 and Ryobi engine on separate layers, they can be scaled to size for most purposes. Just adapt o the engine of your choice.
Good Cadding to you.
