Default what to do with them darn rubber flexible intake manufolds

i have seen them and i'm sure msot of you have seen them but what doi ya do with em[&:]
one some newer chainsaws the engine has syspension lugs to dampen viabration.
the carby is mounted to the case so because the 2 parts move indipendantly then the cab must be separated from the engine by this annoying rubber intake manufold.
what can one do to replace this? as you cant really imagine ad carb flying everywhere behind the prop blast on it's rubber manufold LOL

cna a new aluminium be made without much trouble? and if so how and what length/
i am eyeing off a 45cc cheapy chainsaw on $bay and i have a sneaking syspission that is has one of them damn things.[:@]

for the poulan I just got, I'm thinking of just trimming away the plastic bracket that was mounted to the saw and making some easy mounts to go to the jug, should be quick and easy, or I'll take the Delron or whatever it is I have and make a new manifold...

thanks guys
is it very hard to install the exernal pulse line to the carb? or is it jsut a matter of drilling and tapping in a brass fitting?
so i can make the intake manufold out of any matirial so long as it is the same length and is heat proof?
the reason being is that i can't get hold of large diameter aluminium exept for the bit that dad wants to use to make a piston[&:]
so could a large piece of brass, or a heatproof plastic suffice?

brass would be heavy, but would work. it doesn't have to be the same length, I think what I have is HDPE, which should work fine...

external pulse is just drilling and taping in a fitting, just somewhere in the crankcase where it doesn't interfere with anything, you also need a carb with external pulse, or just work the pulse hole into your carb adapter, that's half the reason I'm thinking of making a standoff/bracket for the stock setup, plus in theory it should be lighter than a big chunk of aluminum... I don't know, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other...

Search this forum. You will find several threads dealing with this problem on both Homelite 45 and Poulan engines. Preferred material is G10 or similar, as it acts as a heat dam. RCIGN made a detailed how to post on one of the threads. Miss reading the detail he furnished to clarify a lot of questions.
