Default 6 bolt hubs

im looking at doing a 6 bolt hub for my homelite and my echo BME twin.

is there a certain bolt pattern or bolt circle that should be used or is it going to be a drill your own prop situation anyway?

any links to threads about 6 bolt hubs?

The use of a standard pattern has much to say for it, because then you can get drill jigs.
Here is the drawing for the MVVS 116 twin

I have 2 different sizes. One of them came with a hub i bought for the 40cc echo that was sold in the 80s.The other im not sure.If it where me id buy the DA50 drill jig for about $30.00 from DA of course.Or go to ebay and search for props in the RC parts,or look here on RCU for somone selling a used prop drilled with 6 bolts and then just make your own jig by transferring the holes from the prop to a piece of 1/4 inch aluminum.I bought a used prop24x10,zinger,drilled for a 3W i think for 8 dollars at a swapmeet.Look for used jigs also.Youll find out like i did theres a lot of props being sold used for DA50s.There already predrilled,ect...I personally am going to buy the DA jig shortly just for this reason.

On the 6 bolt hubs...is this something you need to do on say 50cc and bigger or is it a way to make your props track better. Seems like a lot of extra work??? Thanks Capt,n

I was told by quite a few people and its on a website but i dont remember wich one.Using one bolt or nut doesnt squish the prop down even so if ya say you put a metal pointer on the head and secured it,then put one blade against it,then turned the prop 180 degrees,it wouldnt be the same in most cases.I havent tried it yet.But the website i saw it on gave a description on how to do it.You start at one bolt and then like tightening a wheel you move from corner to corner in x's and rotate the prop to make sure the prop is squished evenly and both blades track even. The site said you would definatly gain RPM numbers.I just started to fly helis and believe me,you want the 2 blades tracking even.Thats why one tip is one color and the other is different.Ill try one of my wood props this weekend and see.If i have both hubs for one engine.

I was searching rc parts around the net and just realized that if ya want a cheap, readily availible, probably have in your stuff[parts inventory].A old or new head off of a glow engine. Its already about the right size, hole in center is predrilled and outside 6 holes are already perfect or as near as most of us will ever get if we make our own.

bringing this back to the top to ask if there is supposed to be a bolt in the middle as well or is it just the 6 bolts on the outside?
