hey, i just read the post about a st 40 running on gas. i just bought one, and was wondering if its a good idea to break the engine in with gas. im going to mix regular fuel 10:1 with regular 2stroke oil. im not using an ignition, instead, like rysium im going to use a glow plug powered all the time. i was thinking of using some 5% nitro first, then switching to gas, but if i dont have to bother, then i wont.
thanks,
andrew

Hi Andrew,
My dad is in the hospital in ICU so I haven't visited the forum in a few weeks now. I haven't tried RysiuM's method (I used ignition) and so I only have that to draw on. I did break the last SuperTigre G51 in on Gasoline/Oil. I did use Super Unleaded but I don't think it would be necessary if the compression isn't raised as I have done. I broke it in on Redline and have been running it that way ever since. My first, the little 40 had glow time for breakin and I also ran it on Pennzoil Two Stroke Air Cooled when it was a gasser. I am not a home right now so I can't give the needle settings for Gas but if memory serves me the 51 is running with the idle needle in about 1/2 round in from where it ran best as a glow and the main needle is backed out about 3/4 of a round from all the way in. Both needles are much more sensitive than when running glow but managable.
P.S. I answered this on the forum instead of the PM for the benefit of others who might want to try it. I wish you the best in your experiment.

thanks for the advise. right now its too cold to break in, or even run an engine, so i will have to wait til i can use my parents shop. ive heard of guys running engines in the winter, but i think -12C is a little cold.
