Default Crafsman chainsaws

Hey all

I have been looking at Craftsman chainsaws, because they are on sale, the 36cc and the 40cc are the ones I'm talking about.I've also seen a 42cc on sale every now and then.My question is what brand of engines are they, and are they fairly easy to convert?

Thanks in advance Jim

I"ve been running the craftsman 55cc on 2 planes for going on 3 years. no mods have been done to the motors except - muffler prop adaptor and carb mount. I have no complaints.

Jim, The Craftsman saw engine is made by Poulan and the 42cc is easy to convert they say. Look back several pages in engine conversions and you Will see all you need to know. Maybe some nice person will chime in and give you a link to a good place to start reading. Good luck and be carefull. Capt,n
