Anyone Convert a 27cc Stihl?
Have a 27cc Stihl engine from an BG85 blower, that I am considering doing a conversion on. Once out of the blower, the rear blower shroud just unbolts, leaving a motor that's nearly ready to go. It can be radial mounted, or beam mounted. Just curious how it will perform. Any thoughts on what size carb I should put on it. The original is gone. I have several 11mm & 12mm venturi Walbros.

Its a Stihl so its got to be good. Blower engines are better balanced...they say. What happened to the carb? Try a 11mm to start with. If you got a few, try to pick out a clean one. Do a little reading and do not get too much in a hurry. Any more questions...just ask. Best Regards capt,n

Heres a pic of my 28cc[27.2) actual from an FS-46 trimmer.Beam mount or radial mount[3 points].
It turns an APC 17x8 @ 7400.This is the same prop i had on my OS 160.
Motor is stock except,Pitts,CH ign,and Carburater-(*WA-20011.13mm*)
weight-3-1/2 lbs.
I purchased this engine used so i dont know anymore about it.
The CH ign is not synchro-spark.It is timed @28*-BTDC.

Hey Terry,I've done a conversion on this engine myself,it's a sweet little motor. It pulls my H9 !/4 scale Cub around great, seems to have twice as much power as my BCMA 26.Mine is stock with a lightened flywheel a Walbro carb,it's an 11mm,but I can't remember what number it is.Hand starts very easy too!!!I'm running mine on 50:1 Stihl synthetic oil mix and a 17x8 wood prop.I don't know how many rpm's it's turning,I really don't care,it pulls my Cub around that's all I care about. My engine is about seven or eight years old,and has many many hours of yard work on it.You should be very happy with it.
