well today i got myself a stihl 020 AVP chain saw engine. I gave up on the poulin pro I was trying to get going. So tonight I hacked and slashed all the metal I could get off the crank housing and man I got er all!
Ill post some pics later. So I am trying to get it going on glow gas, so Im thinkin do I or should I have an ignition system on it? I read that it makes it start easier, but how hard is it to get it going without an ignition, cause if its just a couple flips seems to me like a waste of money if ya dont really need an ignition right? Another thing I want to paint the head will faskolor paint just burn off?
thanks for the help guys. lots of helpfull ppl here.

Glow gas in a gasoline engine? I think you are going to have to figure out a way to increase the compression ratio a significant amount. Do they make glow plugs to replace spark plugs? If you are running a glow plug you should only need a battery source to start it. Are the carburetor rubber parts compatible with nitromethane and methanol? Will the port timing accomodate glow fuel? If you haven't removed the fittings to mount the magneto I would reinstall the mag and run it on gasoline with a 20:1 two cycle oil mix - Castrol 2 cycle oil (not castor oil).
Interesting project.

You need to read the complete" how to" on gas/glow conversion already done to perfection in this forum. No need to re hash it here. You will get all the information you need and more.
