ok i went out and bought a motrocycle battery and hooked it in my flight box and it wont turn over a ryobi 31cc but if i take it out and hook it up stright to the battery it will turn the ryobi over so now i have buypassed the power panel so i hooked it up to plug ends and stright to the battery and guess what it wont turn it overso anybody got any ideas besides a bigger flight box michael

Ditch the panel You need no glow driver for gas, you can hand crank your gas, and other than running the starter your motorcycle battery won't be any good for much else. Those little batteries left me with little confidence running my chargers off of them in the old days. Get yourself a little Playmate cooler, put a larger lawn tractor battery in it. get yourself a battery tender of some kind to keep the charge up while not in use.

Or better yet...commit to the gas engines, perfect your starting skills, and only use a battery or AC equipment to charge your flight packs, nothing else

It is rather difficult to hand start a gas engine with magneto ignition.

I now use a starter hub, with the shaft cut off', in my Makita battery powered drill. It will spin a gas engine and no cables or motorcycle battery to worry about. It also works on my glow engines . Much simpler.

I think you said if you hooked the starter directly to the battery it would turn over the Ryobi. Then you siad it would not turn it over when the starter was plugged through the power panel, Then you put the plugs on the starter and i it direct to the battery and it would not turn over the ryobi? Right?

It sounds like the PLUGS on thr starter leads are too high a resistance or not making good contact. Crimp or solder some heavy duty ring terminals on the starter leads and BOLT them to the terminals of the motorcycle battery. Make sure the terminals are all bright shiny clean. Then try it on the Ryobi, making sure the Ryobi is clockwise all the away from compression so the start has time to ramp up to speed before it hits compression. This has worked for me to start a new Saito 150, that feels like it has more compression than any Ryobi I have spun. If this does not do it, get a lawn tractor battery or use your car battery. the engine has an electonic ignition on it i only use the starter to start it for the first time to get the prime to the carb it has a choke on it and i have to flip and flip and flip ect ect ect to get it to start ive looked on the form and cant seem to find any thing to choke the carb to help bring the fuel to the carbthis is why i wanted to use the starter as far as the wiring goes ive used the wireing off an old starter with eyelets to the battery that didnt work but if i use the clips on the starter and clip it to the battery it works iam missing something here and i cant figure it out by the way the starter is a hobbico torquemaster 180 michael

A Hobbico 180 will start a G38 gas engine if you have a good 12v car battery hooked to it.

i know but using plug -in like on a power panel with heavy gage wire (like starter wire) the plug-ins heat up mabey the plug ins have a high resistance causing the starter to turn over slowly michael

I purchased a Hobico 180 and on a 12v it won't even turn over my OS 90 4cyl. I had to wire it up to 18v to get it to turn over my gasers.

12 volts or 24 volts - It takes some amperage to make it turn a engine over.
