Elect. Ignition

I accidentally, cut off the coil mounting bolt holes, on my conversion engine. It is a small home-lite the one Carr said is "one of the best" to convert. What is the best (lowest price) way to put on an elect. ignition. Or can it be converted to glow/ nitro?

Thanks for any help bobbdd

Elect. Ignition

bobdd,

Jerry Howell sells a TIM 6 electronic ignition kit for about $41. This includes the circuit components, Hall sensor, and Model Electics coil. You will have to provide some misc. wire, a plug wire/boot, and 6v. battery. I used a shielded 14mm wire/boot from CH Ignitions. The whole package weighs 3.25oz and works fine. Since it is a fixed timing unit, I set mine at 25 BTDC and seems to run well. :)

You could do a search on here and come up with the address.

Good luck.
Doug

Have you had any problems with the dwell issue and if so how did you fix it? Thanks Les

Hi my post was in reference not what dwell was but rather if he had to go to more magnets or some other alternative to increase dwell on his motor

I used AV8R's post to figure dwell angle. Works fine.

I had to put 3 1/8" magnets in a row to get the correct dwell time. about 40 degrees on my prop adapter.
