I thought some of you might enjoy this conversion boat project.
 

My friend has a long abandoned Dumas Dauntless, I am doing the basic build, he will install the gear and finish. We have found one of these boats with a small 2 stroke weedeater installed (online) and it worked well..though overpowered ....

Well we picked up a ryobi 30 cc 4 stroke CHEAP reconditioned ..its just going to barely shoe horn in there ;)

I have the motor mount rails gluing in as I type.. but here are a few pics I thought you would enjoy ...

Looks like fun too me. You may need to use some really good viabration type of engine mounts to prevent cracks in the boat. Maybe some fiberglass cloth inside too. Regards Capt,n

I put a BUNCH of pine tri stock gussets between the hull and the rails. My buddy is going to soft mount the motor mounts to the rails. he is pretty good at that sort of thing.. my real worry is that when it idles it may shake just enough to bang on the bottom of the hull, or the upper super stucture..it will be tight ! if it does It would only take adding a 1/8 or 1/4 strip along the bottom of the two superstructure parts to make it work.. My friend however is committed to keeping the deck at the current height, We will see ! ;)

When you mount the engine sit a couple of strips of 1/4 ply in the bottom of the hull to sit the motor on and space it up.
Mark the mounts/ drill etc. I have a 40cc Gilardoni engine in a 45" flatbottom hull I built.
