Walbro Remote Carb.

Dear all,

After a long time testing my G90 on gas, with a walbro on it, I can say it was a success...

Well, I have had some revolutionary(or not) Ideas.

1) I would like to have a Walbro carb on a OS.46 engine, but I cant fit the carb in there due the engine dimensions, right?
2) looking at a 4 stroke engine, the carb is not fixed straight to the engine body, there is a pipe for it, right?
3) What if I male a pipe and put a walbro carb somewhere like on the side of the engine?

Thanks
Mauricio

yes you can do that. just make sure the inside dimeter is not smaller than the venturi and the pipe is not too long.

btw.
what carb will you fit on it?

Since the Walbro carb has a fuel pump, you could use a bit larger venturi than the original .46 carb, and gain some power.

Are you going to run the engine on gasoline or glow fuel?

When you get it done, upload some pictures for us to see or it didn't happen

Note that while the Zama carbs are a touch smaller physically, in my experience they won't tolerate methanol at all. The diaphrams go bad in a matter of hours.

The Walbro carbs are designed for bigger engines, so if you decided to run glow fuel, one MIGHT flow enough fuel. If not, you can "cheat" them into flowing a bit more by raising the metering lever a touch. If that doesn't work, you'll have to start enlarging internal passages. The WT-499 Walbro is designed for glow fuel, but it would flow way too much for a .46 and would be extremely sensitive to needle settings. (Besides the venturi size is much too big for a .46.)

The stock Ryobi engines run a very small venturi carb that might work....

I thank you all for the replies!

Converting a .46 os any small bore engine is just a project for while...
Let me talk about my Self, I'm 35 and I'm a Project Manager for special project. What I mean is, when a company has a project and nobody have done that before, I join people from different skills to make that happen.
making experiences is part of my relaxing time.

Converting engines is not difficult, my challenge is to make it work the way I need...
I loved the experience of using a Walbro carb, since I have no fuel tank pressuring issues anymore! Therefore, I would like to try walbro on small engines and see what happens!
My first idea is to place the Walbro by the side or in the back of the engine... and to be honest, I still need to buy a trainner in order to make flight tests, bench tests is good, but I prefer the flight test...
I was just concerned if the walbro would manage pushing fuel into the engine...

By the way, does anyone here has a pipe bending machine?
Also, I would love sugestions about wich walbro I should use. I wanna use the those with pump on it.

Question,
Lets imagine a Walbro is way too big for my needs, what if I use a very thin fuel tubing from the tank? what if I smash a piece of brass tubbing and put it inside the fuel line?

Thank you all for your help and sorry for my english, but that is ot my mother tong...

With a fuel pump neither of those methods will get what you would want, if it's just slightly more fuel flow than needed you should be able to bend the regulator lever down a little. I have a few walbro's with 6-7mm venturi's but most of them only have one needle

Wow, the html didn't mix well with the site. I began making a list of carbs with the data on the Walbro site, but soon realized it would take ages.
