WE are a pretty adaptable organism.. From +60 to -100 and we find a way to survive environments that try their best to eliminate us. WE even find time to take small assemblies of engineered metal and convert them to burn a fuel they were not designed to burn. :)

On these, one port is in, the other port is out so this one could easily be used as a methanol fuel pump. Not sure how useful that is, certainly not for me, but maybe for someone.

I have some labeled "water pump". The same construction but the ports are restricted. - haven't checked the internals. Would probably make a good "fuel transfer pump" for scale glow models with tricky tank locations or as a cooling pump for engines with water cooling jackets. The air pumps might have an issue as the air ends travels through a cavity where the eccentric cam is and I'm not sure if the shaft of the motor is sealed

Smal update pf my puma en home made carb. Last wekend i made some flights withe puma again after 2 months. It was cold 1°c. The last time was in autumn by 15°c. The carb/engine runs like a champ 😍. No noticeable differences in running behaviour.
i use the telemetry temp/baro set from bert. End the carb design from chris. it is an approved carb even in the cold foggy weather.

Thanks for the update Rob.. Great to Hear. If I get brave and the weather cooperates I might try one SUB zero for a. reference. We are getting beat up this season with below normal cold and haven't seen many reasonable days here recently.

If a gasser runs good at temperatures around freezing and foggy conditions, with just the fuel metering and nothing else (like carb heating or anything like that) then it is a pretty good indication it is as good as it is going to get.
I remember from the past, when I still had a carburated car, and also from the times I still rode my carburated Ducatis in winter, they would not run right without either carb heating or intake air heating.

I have personally never flown below 5 deg C as my fingers basically stop functioning at those temperatures making it near literally impossible for me to handle the sticks. I have tested a few groundruns at around freezing, but groundruns are not flying.

I am highly impressed.

And having seen Rob's Puma, I can only say that aesthetically, that carb set-up Chris designed, it REALLY looks the bees knees! Love it!

Yes, but a different spread this year, Indian food. Our friends from India came this year and prepared a huge authentic Indian meal. My stomach faired well but I'm still burping curry.:eek:

We had a large Indonesian rice table on board, which also is one of my favourites.

I was thrust into cooking duty here as My Wifey is with the Federal Police(RCMP) in forensics and got the "traditional" Christmas Day call in... Supper for 20 is not my strong point but it went well and many stomachs were assaulted :)

Belated Happy Holidays... I spent most of Christmas in bed with the flu,103 fever... thought it was covid, but I test negative... I just came back about a week before Christmas from visiting some friends in Tahoe, must have picked it up there... talk about cold weather, nice place to visit, but I like the Cali weather.

The cold will do that to you Cat... your body wants to store calories for the cold months ahead... you're almost an Eskimo up where you live :D.

At least he does not hibernate... Thank god or we would have had to wait for a few months more to see his beautiful contraptions...

Some winter days I contemplate Hibernation!!! :) I have been a bit slow with "Fuelie Projects" as I have been catching up on a few unrelated builds.. But I have found a home for the Boxer and have it mounted in the fuse - will send some pics later.

Its seems we're getting colder winters here as well... The water froze in the garden hose the other night... had Icicles shoot out the hose... scared the the cat which was kind of fun. :)

Interesting to see what you have the boxer tied to... not much to choose from in terms of ARF's this time of year... Most have been discontinued... But the H9 15cc carbon Cub is still available.

Here are a few pics. Its a modernized and downsized version of an EU1A which I think is a beautiful old school pattern ship. It retains the unique wing planform and adds some modern touches as a plug in wing (for fuse space) and a hatch for simplicity for an electric version (for battery changes).. It would be a .45 size glow machine and I do have plans to eventually try a IC power plant - but the prototype is electric. Its been a bit of a rabbit hole project. Started as an attempt to use 3D printing to make the plug for the mold - Which actually worked very well. It stalled a bit when I decided to implement a plug in wing as the work around figuring this out was troublesome as I fell into the "overthinking" and "overbuilding" trap.

I really like the looks of this build and judging from the response of other "Classic Pattern" guys it seems to have hit a sweet spot.. Even the original designer of the EU1 has chimed in with his approval.
