32cc Craftsman/Poulan convert experience
Picked one up yesterday; I am curious whether it would be worthwhile to convert. Reed valve set-up like Ryobi. It has a small WA219-B Carb (7.14mm), single ring, spring held muffler. The head has fewer fins, but thicker than Ryobi 31. The grey plastic case does not look like it would be as durable/strong as the black material used by Ryobi.
What is the trick to getting those muffler springs off? they are STIFF! It may just go back to original duty. |

How did you get the clutch off that thing? I am about to give up on mine!!

RE: 32cc Craftsman/Poulan convert experience
My clutch came off by placing a flat head screwdriver down the center of the clutchbell and removing the screw.

No clutch on this unit, so it was rather a non-issue. Rotating the cutting head I came up with resistance of the crank trying to turn over. No free-wheeling of a clutched unit.
Reassembled with some new fuel line and it fired right up. What is the general tuning routine on a single needle carb, it lost its limiter. Started at 2 out and just kept leaning it out till it had best sound and then back 1/8 turn. This is just for 'see it does run just fine' operation. |

Be sure that engine turns the right way, mine turns clockwise.

They must be threaded on. Can you determine direction of threads CW /CCW? vise it up; Jam the cylinder up with some small line/rope pushed down thru the plug hole; put a strap wrench or worst case a pipe wrench on the clutch shoes and lean on it. Might put some LiquidWrench on and let it set overnite first.
