Stihl 27cc conversion ?

I have discovered the mower shop next door has several Stihl 27cc and 25cc engines just laying around... they use them for parts, but most of the parts are not taken from the engine just the trimmer.... Guy said he would sell me 10 of them for $100... Has anyone converted these engines for RC? The have rear exhaust porting, is this a problem? I have a feeling I'll need to fabricate the muffler, but that's not a problem... Is this a good deal? I don't see much info. on Stihl engines.

Buy one experiment with it. Let everyone know what you find out. I buy used Ryobi31 and Homie 25 for $14 US (150 peso). Great way to spend an afernoon. I now have operating 3 weedeaters. 3 blowers, and a hedge trimmer, plus 4 or 5 RC engines. Go for it.

Do they look like this one ? I have been looking for one of these, I like the design of the crankcase, mounting lugs, etc.

the 27cc is stihl's cheapo engine for home gardeners, the 25cc is the one used in the pro tools and per their catalog has quite a bit more power.

Does the 25 cc have the same style crankcase, with the mouting lugs, and "beams" ?

been ages since i've seen one so i'm not really sure about the mounting but i think it is similar what's found on all the japanese motors...a little bell housing that contains the pull starter. makes for a nice radial mount.

the echo 30cc saw engine has beam mounts and rear exhaust but the carb is mounted on the bottom of the crankcase. very light and would be nice on a big profile plane

Anyone finished a conversion on one of these Stihl engines. I have a 25.4 that looks promising. I am hoping to put an electronic ignition on it.

Hi
Photos not in order, sorry.
The first photo is the last.
Modifying exhaust, too much restricted, also take out baffle, less weight.
In this moment the engine is searching a new test stand, obviously.
Problems with needles, plastica caps, now the plastic caps are cut.
Trouble with transition, solution, plastic from syringe.
Slowly but sure, start from a new Stihl, in Argentina is one of the most expensive weedeaters, aprox. 250 U$S.
My friend is a beginner see my Poulan weedeater converted flying and see and believe, a fast conversion of a nonbeliever modeler .
Prop at first moment is 16 x 6, small but muffler and needles standard.
Many Thanks for your time.
My friend is from Rio Negro, apples production country, the test stand is from an apple container.
I will send more photos when have.
See you later
Jose
