The engine conversion is complete and mounted in the plane. All that is needed are some minor carb adjustments and a bit more run-in.

Waiting with baited breath (what exactly does that mean?) for a flight report. How much does the plane weigh? My ryobi is flying a 14lb Bandito Grande. Not too bad. But the engine has seen 5 yrs of hard weed eatin before coming to the good life.

Baited Breath or Bated Breath - Both are interesting.

1.-
The Merchant of Venice:
Shakespeare
“Shall I bend low and, in a bondman’s key, / With bated breath and whisp’ring humbleness, / Say this ...”.
Bated breath refers to a state in which you almost stop breathing through terror, awe, extreme anticipation, or anxiety.

2.-
The Cruel Clever Cat
Poem by Geoffrey Taylor

Sally, having swallowed cheese,
Directs down holes the scented breeze,
Enticing thus with baited breath
Nice mice to an untimely death.

3.-
Mark Twain
Tom Sawyer: “Every eye fixed itself upon him; with parted lips and bated breath the audience hung upon his words, taking no note of time, rapt in the ghastly fascinations of the tale”.

The Sukhoi was first powered by an OS 1.60- But the fuel consumption proved to be excessive. I have limited space for fuel tanks inside. When the OS was installed I needed about 1.5Ibs of nose weight to balance it out. So I figured I would switch to gas and use the extra engine weight as ballast instead of dead lead..

I am not sure of the final weight YET as I have not re-weighed it. But I will do that soon and let you know.. The model is out of china and is available as an arf- But latley the company website has been down. Shame- They had lots of cool models. If I can find a source I will post a link.

Here's another pic-

Hey my friend I'm not to far away from you. I live in Centerville. I am currently flying two planes with the Ryobi. A Hanger 9 PT-19 at around 14.5 lbs. on mag ignition and a Great Planes Ryan STM at around 13lbs. on C&H ignition. Both fly very well and it is quite surprising how well the Ryobi's pull them around at our altitude. Both of mine are the two ring versions. I am thinking of putting another in a Lanier 1/4 scale Extra 300 that is supposed to weigh in at 12lbs. RTF with a glow engine so I will be watching to see how yours does. I think it will fly very scale aerobatics but no 3D which is ok with me anyway. Both of mine are using a Master Airscrew 18x8 wood prop which I have found to be the best all around prop so far, although I haven't used any APC's because I am trying to keep a scale look. They might even pull better. Drop me a email when you get her going.

Later,

Maximus

(Maximus) I am getting alot of advice from on the engine tunign side in this string-
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=2030275

Have you done anything special to your carb? I was going to leave mine stock for now and see how it performes. I'm sure altitude and the summer heat will be important factors here.

Currently running the factory Walbro on one and the factory Zama on the other. They both seem to do fine.

Later,

Maximus
