RE: WHAT A DEAL

Hi Captinjohn, Its been a while, if you ever get around to converting your MB290, I need the stock carb that came with the unit. Or if any one else reading this and has converted thiers, let me know. I am still using mine as a blower, The carb went south since the weather got good. I can't find any info on the unit.

How are you doing these days capt? I hope you are recovering ok.

Thanks George

I'm finishing up the telemaster test bed for the MB...then time to wait for some good warmer weather here in the midwest! Will fire up the engine and see how she works as a plane engine! Should be a lot of fun! Any results on propping this thing?? I've got a 16-6 on their now. Should be more than enough torque and hopefully not too much speed, I'd like the Sr. Telemaster it's on to land eventually. will post some pics as I get closer...

Well, i have finally gotten around to getting some work done on this and have fired up the engine and it runs great! With a 16-6 getting between 9.5-11 lbs of thrust depending on the prop type...wood, composite, etc. Just have to finish up the covering and get it up! Should be a lot of fun...

Ok, it's been a little over two years since I started this project and it's finally finished.... 25cc engine from John M. and a Sig Rascal 110 is a GREAT combo. What I did was strip the engine down to nothing but the engine and the magneto, installed a Zenoah G-26 carb adapter, G-26 header pipe, found a Zama 10mm carb on a poulan 41cc chainsaw engine and slapped a Zenoah G-26 velocity stack on it. Made a prop hub out of 1 1/4" aluminum round stock and threaded it to spin on the crank, installed a stud in the prob hub and made a washer from the same material as the prop hub. Drum roll please.............. 9250 rpm with a 16/8 Zinger prop. I would put a muffler on it if there were noise restrictions at my field but since there isn't MAKE IT LOUD. Hand starts great with some thumb choking to prime it. Let me tell you, this little engine is more than I need to fly this Rascal but you can NEVER overpower a plane. I fly around at 1/3 throttle and when I go WOT it tries to climb I'm attempting an electronic ignition version, the Zenoah EI system uses the same dimensions on the rear of the engine but I need to find a G-26EI to measure and make certain. the great thing is I still have 2 more engines to tinker with. Thanks everyone for the info, couldn't have done it without this thread.

RE: WHAT A DEAL

My buddy and I LOVE this motor, I wonder if they are still making them..we have them in multiple airplanes, and I have one in my 1/4 zippkits crackerbox...not a speed demon..but its a fun combination..

Great motors !
Oh yeah, that Sig Rascal is a perfect combination I am sure... I have flown much smaller ,less floaty planes with them...

Ok, time to fire up this old thread!! I have a question for you guys.... same engine, ei conversion, but I can't find any ignition systems. A guy at the field is using Pegasus systems and I have heard great things about RCEXL systems but have yet to see one. Where can I find them, I have searched every website I can find but can't find distributors for pegasus or rcexl. HELP!!!
